OKX Referral vs Affiliate: Eligibility, Commission and Regional Checks

OKX referral rewards and affiliate commissions serve different purposes. A referral campaign may reward qualifying invitations under a particular offer. An approved affiliate relationship may pay a share of eligible trading fees. Neither model guarantees earnings or makes trading suitable for the reader.

Compare the qualifying event

For a referral promotion, identify who can join, the required invitation route, qualifying actions, deadlines, reward form and validation process. Do not assume both parties receive the same benefit.

For an affiliate arrangement, identify the approved relationship, attribution rules, eligible fees, commission rate, exclusions and payment conditions. “Share of fees” is different from a share of a customer's deposit or investment gains.

Consult the relevant OKX referral FAQ for the EEA example and the terms shown to the reader in their own region. A European help page is not a universal offer.

Does ten referrals automatically make you an affiliate?

No. The affiliate-rules page, updated 29 September 2026 and checked on 3 October, describes a route involving ten valid new users to unlock eligibility. This is a documented route, not proof that every region or account follows an identical onboarding process.

What determines commission?

Actual eligible fees, attribution and the agreed rate determine commission. Published rules include exclusions and assessments that can affect payment. The account's applicable contract and statement are needed to calculate an entitlement.

Hypothetical illustration: €100 in eligible net fees at a hypothetical 20% commission produces €20 before relevant adjustments or costs. €10,000 of trading volume does not produce €2,000 commission: the base is eligible fees, not volume.

This calculation is a teaching example. It is not a quoted OKX rate or an income forecast.

Why region and entity matter

Check residence, serving entity, permitted promotion markets, available products and campaign eligibility separately. An internationally usable signup link does not remove country restrictions or make a globally described feature available locally.

Do not select a false residence or use circumvention to obtain an offer. If regional help pages disagree, use the terms applicable to the actual account and request clarification from the provider.

Can existing users be attributed later?

Do not assume ordinary signup attribution can be added retroactively. However, current affiliate documentation describes certain re-engagement and existing-user mechanisms with regional conditions. The former categorical treatment of existing users was therefore too broad.

Ask which mechanism applies, how the channel relationship is established and whether approval is required. Do not promise a reward before the platform validates it.

Which programme fits your work?

Occasional private recommendations may fit a referral campaign. A publisher with an audience and a suitable editorial process may consider an approved affiliate arrangement.

The latter also carries obligations: accurate promotion, disclosure, permissible targeting, records and continuing review. More content does not automatically mean more revenue. Production, distribution, maintenance and compliance all have costs.

Put customer fit before commission

Explain who should wait: someone outside supported markets, unable to verify eligibility, unclear about custody or considering unnecessary trading only for a reward. The value of a review is its decision method, including reasons not to proceed.

Read the offer displayed, retain the relevant terms and check account eligibility, costs, reward conditions and restrictions. Registration alone does not prove approval, commission entitlement or reward qualification.
